The KSE-100 index ended the session at 167,970.65, down 2,541.20 points or ‑1.49%, extending a short‑term downtrend that began earlier in the week.
Sector breadth was decidedly negative. Technology & Communication saw 18 stocks fall against just three gains, while Cement recorded 18 decliners and no up‑moves. Commercial Banks and Investment Banks also posted more losers than winners.
On the mover front, MDTL surged 10.41% to 7.64 and FPJM rose 10.02% to 20.65, each handling over 50 million shares. CENI, BPL and PSEL also posted 10% gains. In contrast, WAVESAPPR collapsed 64.71% to 0.06, becoming the day’s biggest loser and one of the most actively traded stocks alongside CNERGY and PRL.
Investors should note a slate of upcoming corporate actions, including dividend payouts for IREIT (0.85%), AHL (125%) and BWHL (100%) with book closures between 15 Sept and 30 Sept, and bonus issues for INDU, INIL and others through early October.
The market’s pullback reflects sector‑specific pressure rather than a fundamental shift in sentiment, suggesting that breadth‑driven weakness may persist until broader participation returns.
